Top 10 Guerlain Fragrances for Men 👨 – 2020 Best Guerlain Perfumes

Top 10 Guerlain Fragrances for Men

Founded in 1828 by French perfumer and chemist Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain, the prestigious brand Guerlain is one of the oldest and most iconic perfume brands

Indeed, for more than a century Guerlain has become a synonym of audacity and French knowledge. Guerlain has created some of the most iconic fragrances like Shalimar, Champs-Elysées, Habit Rouge, L’Homme Idéal,La Petite Robe Noire and of course Angelina Jolie’s fragrance L’Instant de Guerlain.

In 2008, Guerlain hired Thierry Wasser to be its new nose. Whereas, Thierry Wasser is not from the Guerlain’s family, he’s considered as the spiritual son of the Guerlain house. His raw talent and charismatic personality has brought a breath of modernity to the oldest French perfume brand.

Today, we’re going to focus on the top 10 Guerlain fragrances for men in 2020. After reading this article, you’ll know everything you need to know about the most popular male fragrances made by the famous and irreplaceable French perfume brand.

L’HOMME IDÉAL : A SEDUCTIVE AND INNOVATIVE FRAGRANCE BY GUERLAIN

After the huge success of La Petite Robe Noire, Guerlain had to show as much audacity and imagination to launch his new fragrance for men L’Homme Idéal. And the least we can say, is that the marketing communication is up to this magnificent juice created by Thierry Wasser.

Thanks to the latest campaign launched by Guerlain for La Petite Robe Noire, the world of perfumery had now understood that the venerable perfume house Guerlain would be ready to break habits. And indeed, L’Homme Idéal released in 2014, will not disappoint !

L’Homme Idéal aims to be totally provocative and addictive in beauty and elegance while having a deep and, relatively, subtle sense of humor. The visuals and the advertising spot will therefore be embodied by the magnificent Spanish model Jon Kortajarena, while having fun and self-mocking the superficiality of his relationships with women.

L’Homme Idéal or the ideal man must be beautiful, strong and intelligent so these three facets show up in the perfume. The intelligence is enhanced by notes of bergamot, new freshness and mint aromas.

Then the beauty is bounded to the heart notes that are both delicious (amaretto combined with cherry) and delicately spicy (coriander, rosemary and cardamom).

Finally, the force is represented by the deep woody accords and amber wood leather and patchouli married with powdery and delicious notes of tonka bean, licorice and vanilla.

L’HOMME IDÉAL COOL : THE IDEAL MAN IS A COOL MAN !

With this new interpretation of the worldwide phenomenon L’Homme Idéal Guerlain gives us a new facet of its personality, becoming more refreshing and vegetal. Focus on L’Homme Idéal Cool, 2019 edition of Guerlain.

L’Homme Idéal Cool is a fragrance that evolves in three successive stages, drawing its inspiration from the definition commonly used by women to designate an ideal man.

Unanimously, he must be “intelligent, beautiful and strong“. With a good dose of second degree and self-mockery, Guerlain has therefore developed a lively, sensual and virile essence.

In addition, L’Homme Idéal Cool is enriched with a new, more aromatic, refreshing and vegetal breath, which goes perfectly with hot summer days. Finally, note that this new scent evokes more than ever the Eaux de Cologne from the past.

L’Homme Idéal Cool starts with a touch of citrus, dominated by the presence of bergamot and orange. For more liveliness and freshness, mint has also been added in its top notes.

Then, the heart of L’Homme Idéal Cool revolves around the star ingredient of the collection: almond. Fresher than usual, the heart is associated with aquatic notes while being lit with neroli. Little by little, L’Homme Idéal Cool asserts its virility. It finally ends with a woody duet of vetiver and patchouli.

L’HOMME IDÉAL SPORT : THE VERY SPORTY MASCULINE FRAGRANCE BY GUERLAIN

With this another version of its best-seller L’Homme Idéal, Guerlain gives a vision of masculinity in its most athletic aspect offered by the Guerlain brand. Focus on L’Homme Idéal Sport.

On the scent side, as always, Guerlain offers us a very harmonious and perfectly structured fragrance. It must be said that this one is the work of one of the greatest perfumers on the planet: Thierry Wasser.

Official nose of the Guerlain house since 2008, he never ceases to dazzle us with its creations. For him, “a successful perfume corresponds to the initial dream”. Now, what woman has never dreamed of an ideal sporty and athletic man?

This juice begins with a blend of almonds, cold spices and aquatic notes. The result is a tender but incisive juice, giving rise to the shiver from its first breath. Then, the heart of L’Homme Idéal Sport lights up with neroli. Finally, it gradually shows more masculinity.

After all, what would L’Homme Idéal be without virility? L’Homme Idéal Sport ends with a trio of coumarin, vetiver and patchouli. The result is a fragrance full of strength, vigor and sensuality.

LE FRENCHY : A TRIBUTE TO FRENCH CULTURE

In 2017, Guerlain releases a new male fragrance which is a tribute to France and the past of the house of Guerlain.

Indeed, Le Frenchy is a particularly fresh fragrance that evokes the scent of the Eau de Cologne, highly prized by men at the beginning of the last century, but which also possesses the tenacity of today’s perfumes

The Frenchy begins with a breath of verbena. This major ingredient in Guerlain’s composition is combined with a very fresh citrus scent, and more particularly bergamot and lemon.

Their zesty scent continues in the heart of this fragrance thanks to the addition of lemon. Likewise, Le Frenchy is also illuminated with neroli and small grain.

Lavender, the star flower of men’s perfumery, is also present. Its aromatic breath is further enhanced by the presence of sage. Finally, Le Frenchy ends with more depth and masculinity.

It’is coated with vetiver, tonka bean and ambergris. Of course, this composition is the work of the official perfumer of the house Guerlain: Thierry Wasser.

GUERLAIN HOMME : GUERLAIN’S RETURN TO BASICS

What could be more intoxicating than a rum cocktail ? Well, a perfume for example ! Yes, but not just any. The Guerlain Homme fragrance is a juice based on the bewitching scent of mojito.

With this perfume, Guerlain seems to have wanted to encourage men to refocus on themselves and their origins. Thus, it reveals man in his most natural aspects.

This juice is all at once: freedom, determination, masculinity, ease, relaxation. Guerlain Homme is a fragrance created in 2008 by the talented perfumer Thierry Wasser, the exclusive nose of the house of Guerlain.

He then chose to develop a refreshing and invigorating essence built around a mojito accord. In other words, this juice alone combines all the ingredients of this famous cocktail.

It begins with a lemon zest accompanied by a few crushed peppermint leaves. Of course, the whole is made with a glass of Jamaican rum combined with rhubarb.

The heart then gains a little more luminosity thanks to the citrus presence of bergamot as well as to the vegetal aspect of the green tea leaves. Geranium, on the other hand, completes this fragrance with its typically masculine and slightly spicy elegance.

Finally, the fragrance gains little by little in vibrations and virility, ending on resolutely masculine scent of vetiver.

L’INSTANT DE GUERLAIN POUR HOMME : THE STRONG MASCULINE FRAGRANCE BY GUERLAIN

Created in 2004, L’Instant de Guerlain pour homme is an ode the furtive moments but so intense that they are capable of transforming a life. If the female version of L’Instant wanted to be madly feminine, it seems that L’Instant pour Homme chose to push masculinity to its climax.

This fragrance embodies Guerlain’s perfect male alter ego, revealing itself to be decisive, determined and virile. But L’Instant pour Homme does have a certain amount of sensitivity.

It’s a bit like a sort of “big tough guy” with a tender, pulsating heart under his shell. A conquering fragrance, L’Instant pour Homme delivers a story similar to a man and woman first met.

L’Instant pour Homme is a biting and comforting essence. This draws its liveliness from a blend of citrus fruits, and more particularly lemon and bergamot. The star anise, on the other hand, reinforces this quivering momentum with a spicier heat.

Likewise, pepper and elemi play on this contrast. Indeed, pepper is considered to be a hot essence while elemi, on the other hand, is a much colder ingredient. The whole then evolves towards more sweetness, taking charge of the elegance of jasmine.

This tenderness gradually intensifies until it’is enveloped in creamy sandalwood. L’Instant pour Homme ends with a real caress made from hibiscus seeds, patchouli and cocoa beans. Everything becomes absolutely sensual and irresistible.

HÉRITAGE : ALL THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE HOUSE OF GUERLAIN IN A BOTTLE

It’s in 1992 that Guerlain decides to give birth to a fragrance called Heritage.Guerlain is one of our oldest French brands and appears to the world as one of the greatest symbols of luxury and elegance. This is precisely what we find in the Heritage fragrance, a woody and spicy juice conceived with nobility by the talented Jean-Paul Guerlain.

Héritage aims to draw its source from the brand’s rich past while delivering the image of a man resolutely turned towards the future. Thus, Heritage appears to be a kind of temporal bridge linking the men of the past with those of today. It celebrates the gift of transmission, drawing inspiration from the generations of yesterday and being dedicated to those of tomorrow.

Heritage has multiple contrasts and even draws its richness through them to form a perfect harmony. Heritage begins with extravagantly fresh top notes. Its invigorating radiance results from a duo of bergamot and lemon.

At that moment, one of the most emblematic aromatic materials of men’s perfumery appeared: lavender. This is then followed by a spicier heart containing pepper and coriander. Thus, the Guerlain man never seems to lack audacity and character. He then asserts his virility in the trail of this perfume.

Heritage ends with a richer and woody accord combining cedar and patchouli while enhancing them with a more sensual leather note. What’s more, the famous Guerlinade is also present and gently closes this essence in scents of vanilla and tonka bean.

HABIT ROUGE : A STRONG MAN IN TOUCH IN NATURE

If the woman Shalimar had a man, his name would be Habit Rouge and he would wear beautiful oriental and animal colors. Released in 1965 at a time when men’s perfumes lacked originality, Habit Rouge offers a distinguished, leathery, spicy and animal olfactory universe to strong and elegant men, accomplished but always tender.

Habit Rouge (Eau de Toilette) by Guerlain I don’t know why fragrances like Habit Rouge aren’t talked about that often. The fact that it is still in production (reformulated or not) is a sign that some fragrances will stand the test of time while other trends come and go, e.g. „oud and rose“, or Iso-E-Super and ambroxan-heavy fragrances. And I am sure that Habit Rouge is one of the few fragrances that will still be in production and appreciated a hundred years from now. Created in 1965 by Jean-Paul Guerlain it was the first oriental fragrance for men with its combination of bright lemon and bitter orange, patchouli, leather, benzoin and, of course, vanilla. It never loses the brightness of the opening notes, but underneath the freshness of the citrus notes there is a warm carpet of resins that supports the fragrance. It can be worn anytime and anywhere, i.e. all seasons and all occasions which makes it a perfect signature fragrance for the ones that only want to wear a single fragrance every day. The sillage is perfectly balanced: neither too loud nor too quiet. And never too much. It is a classic fragrance that will remain a classic, alas Mark Twain’s definition of a classic might be applicable to this fragrance: „Classic – a book which people praise and don’t read.“ I have read so many good things about this fragrance, but I wonder whether it is still worn by a lot of people, at least in the fragrance community that is often focused on the latest releases (or best clones of popular fragrances). So let’s enjoy and celebrate the classic scents! #fragranceaddict #fragrancelover #fragrance #perfume #parfum #sotd #nichefragrance #scentoftheday #nicheperfume #nicheperfumery #nichperfumes #instafragrance #perfumecollection #perfumecollector #lushfragrance #lushyognog #guerlain #guerlainhabitrouge #habitrouge #luxuryfragrance #fragrancereview #habitrougeguerlain #guerlainfragrance #classicfragrance #classicscent

“Habit Rouge embodies a dandy man capable of all audacity who combines sophistication and refinement. He leads his life with passion and is distinguished by a wake of extreme sensuality.” Guerlain.

In top notes, Habit Rouge offers citrus and slightly bitter freshness of bitter orange and lime married with delight to the power of lavender and the exotic and flowery originality of neroli. A floral touch at the top that resonates with the deep heart of jasmine and rose, luxurious and precious raw materials, rare in men’s perfumery.

Finally, the trail created around the famous touches of Guerlinade of vanilla, patchouli and tonka bean is overdosed with vanilla notes while being married to pretty woody notes of birch and cedar, with powerful animal notes of ambergris and labdanum as well as delicate spices of cinnamon and cloves. An explosive final cocktail of precious materials sensually wrapped in a beautiful patchouli.

VÉTIVER : THE EMBLEMATIC FRAGRANCE BY JEAN-PAUL GUERLAIN

A true tribute to this raw material typical of men’s perfumes, Vétiver was developed in 1959 and has managed to squeeze through the ages to reach us intact almost 60 years after its creation.

Jean-Paul Guerlain was only 22 when he created Vétiver which was his first fragrance. This is what he said about his creation process :

“At the edge of a wood, a man told me about his love of the land, the magic of the seasons. Subtle odors penetrated me, detaching me from his story. The man exalted an imperceptible smell of tobacco mingling with the scent of nature, underlined by the scents of the generous earth freshly turned over. An inspiration had just been born.”

Vétiver is thought of as a dynamic and sporty man who likes to display his manhood and his elegance just as much. Vetiver is a juice that cannot be given age or location. It’is suitable for all types of personalities, whether urban and social men as well as true nature lovers.

Vetiver begins with a biting and bursting freshness. This fragrance immediately combines several citrus fruits such as bergamot, lemon, orange and grapefruit. Thus, its lively and fleeting freshness is both tart and sparkling.

Then, its heart is strengthened in terms of masculinity. It combines spices such as pepper, chilli or nutmeg. Likewise, it lets out tobacco curls before evolving towards a more woody signature. Of course, Haitian vetiver is present at its base.

It’is enriched with the smoothness of sandalwood and the depth of patchouli. The tonka bean nevertheless rounds everything off, leaving a particularly tender scent behind it.

MOUCHOIR DE MONSIEUR : A DIVE THROUGH TIME

Through this ancestral fragrance, Guerlain gives us a kind of historical testimony. Indeed, until the beginning of the 20th century, the fragrance was inseparable from beauty rituals and no man worthy of the name considered going out without being accompanied by his favorite scents.

On the other hand, the perfume was not yet worn directly on the skin. It was customary to spray the linings on his clothes or gloves. In tribute to the traditions of that time, Jacques Guerlain therefore decided, in 1904, to make a duo of fragrances for one of his couples of friends who were getting married that same year.

Mouchoir de Monsieur starts with a fake air of Cologne. It initially displays an invigorating freshness based on bergamot and neroli. However, an unexpected ingredient immediately spices up this fragrance.

Absinthe enters the scene and displays a striking contrast by immediately associating with the aromatic facet of lavender, one of the most emblematic ingredients of men’s perfumery. At this moment, jasmine and rose affirm the sophisticated and elegant character of men of the beginning of the XXth century.

Cinnamon, on the other hand, spices it all up. The tenderness of this ingredient is then counterbalanced by the powdery and noble flavor of the iris. This refined plant is associated with a resolutely masculine patchouli as well as oakmoss and amber. Finally, the whole is coated with a more sensual heat of vanilla and tonka bean.

Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur Review

Well, now you know a bit more about one of the oldest and popular French perfume brands. As you’ve probably noticed, Guerlain owes its longevity to its creativity and its audacious creations.

Since the arrival of Thierry Wasser though, Guerlain has modernized its image and we owe him some of the most popular Guerlain fragrances. Thanks to him, the old French perfume brand has become synonym of bold olfactive choices and best-sellers fragrances

Thierry Wasser is also a very charismatic man who doesn’t hesitate to show himself in the media to promote his creations. In a certain way, we can say that he completely embodies the brand Guerlain thanks to his charisma and strong personality.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this article and if you liked it, tell us in the comment which Guerlain fragrance is your favorite ?  😉
