DIOR : THE BIRTH OF AN ICONIC LUXURY BRAND
The first Dior boutique opened in Paris, on the Montaigne Avenue. Since then, the French luxury brand has expanded and today you can find Dior Couture Stores almost everywhere in the world.
In parallel of his clothing brand, Christian Dior develops his own perfume collection. Indeed, the very first perfume released by Dior in 1947 will be named Miss Dior.

Dior had the good idea the expand his company outside the French territory one year only after his first Couture collection. First, he went to the United States where he opened his first store in New York in 1947. In 1957, the house of Dior represents half of the French luxury exports.
DIOR AFTER CHRISTIAN DIOR
After the the sudden death of Christian Dior in 1957, Yves Saint Laurent becomes the artistic director of the couture department. His first collection is a huge success and quickly Yves Saint Laurent is acclaimed for his genius and sense of style. Sadly Yves Saint Laurent can’t stay more than three years and in 1960, Marc Bohan takes his place.
Marc Bohan will take his inspiration on modern women like Jackie Kennedy. His silhouettes are more simple and his first collection will be named “Slim look”. During three decades, Marc Bohan will protect the myth created by Christian Dior. His creations will be modern but always tasteful, feminine and elegant.
In 1996, the English dandy John Galliano arrives at the head of the artistic direction. His petulant personality and his showman attitude will bring a touch of modernity to the house of Dior. Galliano will manage to create his own signature while remaining very faithful to the brand DNA created by Christian Dior. Unfortunately, Galliano is fired after a scandal in 2011, but since his first collection in 1997, Dior sales have been multiplied by 4 !
Since 2016, Dior has welcomed its first female artistic director in the person of Maria Grazio Chiuri. True feminist and women’s rights advocate, Chiuri brings a feeling of freedom and independence to the Dior woman. Her creations are powerful and the message she wants to convey is very political.

The figure hugging dress left no place for imagination with the silky fabric that highlighted every part of her body. We have to say that the 50 years old actress has an amazing toned body !
The pure white satin dress was very shiny and the color also highlighted perfectly her tan skin. The dress was pretty simple except for the tie detail place on the hip.
Like always, Jennifer Aniston kept her hair and makeup very simple and let the dress do all the work. She was absolutely stunning ! Who else thinks she looked like a bride in this dress ?
CHARLIZE THERON IN A DIOR “KELLY GREEN” DRESS AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES
Charlize Theron was true to herself at the 2020 Golden Globes in Los Angeles. Indeed, the Dior muse was wearing one of the latest creations from Dior Haute Couture and like always, she was among the best dressed women on the red carpet.
The goddess inspired one shoulder dress was absolutely stunning on the South-African Actress, but it’s the color of the dress that made Charlize stood out on the red carpet. In fact, the apple green chiffon dress was stitched to a black sheer bustier.
The dress was made of silk crepe which was hand-draped. Dior even told to the press that it took more than a week to make this dress. This evening dress is the perfect balance between classic elegance and bold statement.
PEPLOS WHITE DRESS FROM DIOR SPRING AND SUMMER NEW COLLECTION
With her new spring and summer couture collection Maria Grazia Chiuri aimed to create “The Female Divine” collection which is an ode to women and feminism. What if women ruled the world ? This is the starting point of this collection. Chiuri created a collection which reminds us of the Greek era with peplos dresses that made the models look like goddesses. The first dress we’re going to present is a stunning peplos white dress with sheer fabric.
Chiuri chose the peplos style because its unconstructed lines embody freedom and independence.
The message here is that : “ Women should be free to wear and create what they want.”
The details of this dress are very well-made like the braided neckline and the large sleeves. The dress is hand-draped at the waist giving the dress a very feminine silhouette. The overall look is very flowy and vaporous almost like the dress is made of a cloud. The look is completed with gold jewelry which intensifies the goddess vibe.
BRAIDED CHIFFON DRESS FROM DIOR SPRING & SUMMER NEW COLLECTION
The next dress from the new couture collection is another peplos dress but this time, the dress itself is braided. A beautiful vaporous dress with a fuschia chiffon fabric that is absolutely divine. The model looked like a true goddess !
The least we can say is that Chiuri knows how to highlight women’s body. The perfect lines of the dress emphasizes the waist and the shoulders while the bottom is long and very flowy.
The chiffon fabric is so well worked that the dress looks vaporous and very light.The overall look makes us think of the ancient Greece. Besides, the bright color of the dress is amazing on darker complexion.
The hair braided in a crown finishes creating the goddess look at its finest – one of my favorite pieces from the collection !
SHEER LAVENDER DRESS FROM DIOR SPRING & SUMMER COUTURE NEW COLLECTION
Another goddess dress but this time in a sheer lavender color which gives an angelic vibe to the look. Again the details of this dress are absolutely stunning and this color is so beautiful ! This is a collection by someone who loves women for sure !
We love the embroidered details delicately put on the top of the dress. We also love the rope belt which reminds us of the ancient Greece. We adore the accumulation of layers on the skirt which looks like the model is holded by a cloud.
Finally, we love the gold jewelry and especially the necklace made of golden leaves which is completely divine ! The sheerness of the dress accentuates to goddess vibe making us think of Olympus (which was the goal the Chiuri of course !).
GOLD DRESS FROM DIOR SPRING & SUMMER COUTURE COLLECTION
Here is the Queen of Olympus ! This dress from the “The female Divine” collection, is one of the most spectacular creations from the show. The gold fringe dress screams power and independence. This is the perfect dress for a goddess like Athena.
This is how Dior described the dress : “ From the softness of a silk crêpe shirt dress to the stiffness of a gold houndstooth jacquard skirt, from an unfettered rain of fringe falling from a wide neckline to another kind raked structurally across a bodice, the diversity of pleating and fringing in the Dior Couture Spring-Summer.”
This dress is fierce and raw, the fabric is so shiny that the dress lights up like the sun, a true statement dress for a warrior lady.
We love the spartiate sandals which accentuate the warrior aspect of the dress – this is what happens when feminism meets mythology !
In a nutshell, we could describe this dress in three words : bold, gold and striking.
TRIBAL PRINT DRESS FROM THE 2020 CRUISE COLLECTION BY DIOR
The new Cruise collection by Dior was hugely inspired by Africa. A tribute to the first Christian Dior’s successor, Yves Saint Laurent, who was born in Oran. The fashion show took place in Marrakesh. The dresses are mainly made of Wax (which is an African fabric) and Maria Grazia Chiuri collaborated with different African artists and artisans to create a unique collection which is an ode to Africa and its unique landscapes.
This first dress is a long printed dress made with Wax. The pattern of the dress looks like the tree of life which is a symbol of strength and vitality. The color palette is really warm and soft mixing brown and yellow on an egg white background.
We love the flared cut and the cinched waist which are very flattering on the silhouette. We also love the small opening in the middle of the dress which lets us see just a bit of skin. The look is completed with vintage looking jewelry and a Wax headband which is again a tribute to African fashion.
EMBROIDERED ECRU DRESS FROM THE 2020 CRUISE COLLECTION BY DIOR
A beautiful white dress is an embroidered plastron which highlights to top of the dress. The top of the dress is closed with buttons. This dress is simple, elegant and a bit exotic in the same time.
The dress looks like it’s made of a very thick cotton material which gives the dress a beautiful structure. The flare cut and ankle length skirt make it very flattering for the body. The cinched waist accentuates beautifully the feminine silhouette of the dress.
The deep burgundy color used in the plastron stands out on the soft white color of the dress. The neckline is very oriental with a round collar. We love the simplicity of this dress which is flattering on everyone. Besides, this dress is very easy to wear which is a plus when you invest in luxury items.

The baby doll dress in Wax ! When European fashion meets Africa. This dress is one of the cutest from the collection. Its pattern reminds us of the African Savanna while the cut makes it very girly and feminine.
We love the heart décolleté and the corolla skirt which give a very girly and feminine vibe to the dress. But the color palette is deeper and sober making it easy to wear despite the bold pattern. We can see a lion on the skirt which of course reminds us of the African lands.
The colors are pretty similar to the others dresses from the collection, brown, black, yellow and white which make us think of the wilderness. This dress combines perfectly the African and the European style – the perfect dress for the girly globetrotters !

We can’t talk about Spring and Summer fashion without showing a little white dress. White is always a trendy color for the summer and the Dior 2020 Cruise collection did not forget to present some cute white dresses that will be very useful in summer.
This simple lace white short dress can be the main piece of your summer wardrobe ! Indeed, it’s bold but easy to wear. Of course you have to put something underneath except if you want to wear it on top of your bikini to be the star of the beach. We love the cut out pattern which gives the dress a modern vibe.
